Does anyone know how to defog H4 'headlight lenses? My 1st set fogged over badly and I ordered a 2nd set that came fogged from the shipper. I've tried the Dawn detergent followed by 99.9% isopropyl alcohol to no avail.
method suggested on a Porsche forum to no avail.
BTW one set of my lights are Bosch's and the others are Hella e-codes so they are all theoretically good glass lenses and cleaning should be possible.
Many thanks to anyone that can help. |

Somehow there is moisture inside them. Have to get that out. How are the rubber seals that cover the lightbulbs?
Take the headlights out and remove the bulbs and let them sit in the sun to dry oi - If you live in a dry arid climate Trying on the east coast is not going to work!
A hair dryer on low would help then, but you do not want to unseal the glue that holds the front glass to the reflector bowel.
Even removing the rubber seal to let them vent and turning on the headlights to heat them up would work with halogen bulbs inside. You have to get the rubber seal back in place quickly. If the seals are old and not sealing some red ultra silicone might help.
Just thinking on it. _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

So do the lenses clean up then fog up over time?
My first set of "Motorcycle" E code headlights were fine. Second set would fog up. To echo Steve M comments, I cleaned them up, sealed outer edge (with Goop IIRC). Now, they don't fog up as easily if at all. (haven't inspected them in a while)
