With the bumpers that were on the car, nothing can be done, they are crooked and in poor condition. So, I ordered a set of rechromed bumpers from the ISPwest.
One rubber molding I found NOS, and the second is new JPgroup (could be wrong)
For a long time I could not find information about what kind of overriders will fits. I decided to take a chance and order new ones for Super Beetle.
As it turned out, they fit perfectly!
When the face plastic surgery was done, we separated the body from the chassis / floor. Unfortunately, after that we discovered a bunch of new problems:
Floor wasn't very bad, but it need some work to
AAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
But with the body, everything is not so nice

I knew Karmann Ghia bumpers were a direct swap/fit, but I never knew Super Beetle bumpers would work.
I see you're now working on the rocker sections, just so you know the outer skin is attached to the bottom plate that bolts to the pan, and has captured nuts on the inside layer. This is followed by the heat tube and a half tube (heat shield), followed by the inner layer. Basically the rocker sections are 5 individual pieces, that are welded together. So, basically it's the very outer layer (rocker skin), a heat shield, the heat tube, and enclosed by the inner skin. The inner skin should have the bottom plate (nut plate) welded to it.
I hope this helps. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Surely it would be cheaper / quicker to buy your spares from Germany / Europe than from ISP West ? Nothing wrong with ISP West, of course - I got some parts from them for my rebuild. But I know how hard it is to get spares into Russia because I was there in 2019 when we did the Peking to Paris, and had to get a clutch flown in from Europe - and it was a nightmare - We ended up having to get a Russian who lived in London to hand carry the clutch into St Petersburg !
Loved St Petersburg, but found the freeways getting out of town to be a nightmare, especially since we were driving against the clock !!
Great detail on your rebuild

Bobnotch, Oh Thanks!
Just a few months ago we started work around them
Qldelsie, Shipping costs from USA and Europe are almost the same (for large parcels)!
Also, in European online stores, I did not find such a large selection of goods for Typ3.
It also often happens that the cost in Europe and the USA is the same, but in Europe it is in euros, which is 10 percent more expensive
Yes, delivery from foreign countries is nightmare...
Delivery is always slow (3-7 weeks), unless of course you order express / expedited shipping(then it may take 3-10 days, but much more expensive ).
It started 5-7 years ago, due to the tightening of customs regulations.
Oh, I even met several cars near my house when They were driving towards Peterhof.
Found only one photo.
Yes, you were at the worst time to leave the city
In Russia there is a tradition of going to the country houses in the summer.
And the traffic to leave the city increases 3-5 times |

Since the car was not stored properly on the ground and in humid climates for a long time, the underbody was almost completely rotted away.
We decided not to restore what we have (it would be too long and difficult), but decided to find spare parts in good condition (in Russia we call this car-donor spare parts).
There are few such cars in Russia, and almost all of them are in the same condition, so I decided to look for something in Europe.
Found nothing good (Dont know why there are such a few Type 3 spare parts in Europe (online stores and Ebay).
Then I searched for spare parts on Ebay and Samba for a long time, but found nothing good.
So I decided to ask ISPwest for help and they had exactly what we needed!
They were looking for a carrier for a very long time who could send spare parts to Russia, but they did not find anything affordable.
We decided to cut everything into pieces in order to get into the required size of the parcels (The international delivery of large items is quite complicated, It could be whole article about this ) and send it via Cargo service company
Boxes looked like it could be new parts in it
While work was going on on the body, I decided to take up the upholstery.
In Russia, you can do everything from 0 and we have good specialists, but due to the lack of a pattern (carpets and headliners) it would be much more expensive.
So I bought all of this from TMI Products.
There is a problem with the headliner fabric.
I think it looks too good and modern for Type 3 and may looks weird.
Maybe later I will have to change it.
I have been looking for a main fabric for the seats for a long time.
And in the end chose Porsche Pepita Cream-Black-Brown.
And, of course, I bought new seat pads.
I haven't found a pad for the rear seat yet, maybe someone can tell you where to find it?

Aha - That Car 4 was the 1924 Chrysler - They had many problems and spent much of their time on the back of a truck. This is one of us in the Gobi just before we crossed into Russia for the first time and drove through the BEAUTIFUL mountains on the way to Novosibirsk. It was amazing.

Qldelsie, Great photo!
It was a wonderful time for all automotive enthusiasts in Russia.
Everyone changed their impressions and photos in social networks.
Such events are rare here and always attract the attention of fans.
Here, I found one photo with your car on Instagram (9th photo)

Is the image you posted above from a book in your possession? It appears to be about the Australian market, Volkswagen did things a little different down there. The reason I asked if you had the book, is the picture of the body tag, middle bottom row on that page might give you the colour code.
I did a google search for 1972 Australian type 3, and found the image below. Dig that Yenko/Mopar style stripe. The thread that the image is from states that the colour is Apple green G26. As a disclaimer I don’t know much about Australian Volkswagens. You might want to ask Viiking, he seems to know a lot about Australian Volkswagens... being Australian probably helps in his case.
Here is a link to that thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=...;start=120

RUNKLE, Yes, this is my book, but unfortunately there are no color code tags.
Oh, thanks a lot! Apple green looks like the color in the photo!
Will write to Viiking to be sure that the color is correct |

The Australian colours in 1972 were “Wattle” as you show in the photo of the RHD Type 3. The wattle is a native flower of Australia and is a pale yellow.
I believe the 1972 colour you might be talking about is Avocado Green 13176.
There were no other yellow or greens produced in that model year. _________________ 1968 1500 RHD Lotus White Beetle since birth. In the hospital for major surgery

Here’s a link to a photo of an Australian Avocado Green Type 1 if that helps.

PS.
Apple Green is NOT an Australian colour in any year around that time so the reference to that in the book is incorrect or the colour was not from that year or not an Australian colour. _________________ 1968 1500 RHD Lotus White Beetle since birth. In the hospital for major surgery

Greg on here did a nice well researched copy with computer program to make that stripe up. He even did one in a reflective "gold" for his dark green 70 Fastback. A little searching with "Australian stripe" might get you the link if you want to add a stripe like that to your own car. Just a thought. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Avocado Green was the name given to all Australian VW in 1972. It may be either a different formula to the European made Type 3 or it could be the same colour with a different name in Australia.
For clarity....
You asked me about the Australian colours. The photo with the Mopar-type stripe Runkle said was of an Australian Type 3 from the internet. Runkle said that it indicated that the description said that the colour was Apple Green. If it WAS an Australian Type 3, then the colour would have been called Avocado Green!
If you want to paint it in a period correct for European models which were imported into the US then use the link mdege posted.
After all it is your car. Paint it in any colour you like. _________________ 1968 1500 RHD Lotus White Beetle since birth. In the hospital for major surgery

Yup, I repainted my 65 Notch a BMW metallic blue color that I liked, and still do. On my 71 Notch, I repainted it from Yellow to Nutria, as I thought that color looked good on a Notch. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
