1967 Squareback. My Square has lots of nice upgrades like internally regulated alternator, external oil cooler, and MSD ignition. I do have engine run on for about 1 second when key is switched off and I'm too anal to just live with it. The fix is to install a diode on the blue wire from the alternator to the ignition dummy light. I'm in the process of testing the diode to see if it fixes the problem and I completely disconnected the blue wire from the alternator. No dummy light of-course but still have run-on?? Maybe its not the dummy light? I also have a positive feed wire connected to the alternator feeding the external oil cooler but when I disconnect it no oil cooler fan but still have engine run-on. So with no positive feed from the alternator I have engine run on. Where can the extra voltage be coming from? |

Is it running indefinitely, or is it just "dieseling" as it ingests fuel and the hot engine can still ignite it? |

Runs perfectly for that one second and shuts right off. I've had dieseling on other vehicles on occasion and its completely different. I did alot of idol and timing adjustments tuning the dual carbs but the engine run on was unimpacted and consistant. |

The diode in-line with the blue wire from alternator to ignition light did not solve the problem. Next will add a ballast resistor on the MSD small red wire. |

Added a ballast resistor on the ignition feed to the MSD box. Problem fixed.
