Crap, what strange time we are living
My baby, for 18 years, he was my beloved air compressor
SOLD
My car lift, I am selling everything that made my life happy as a VW mechanic for 18 years.
This guy, crap, poor guy, we have saved together how many intake plenum full of holes..
My name is Ben, over a 180 stock water cooled engine done, so many air cool and over 140 Subaru conversion.
I am sad tonight... well as opposed to other Guru lie Boston Bob, Daryl from AA Transaxle I am still alive, I'm I?
I am leaving the world of Westfalia for good
Cheers to all the good people here that have been nice to me over the years.
For the other one I won't miss you

regardless of the mantra around here, there is more to life than VW westy..
not much more, but certainly more..
maybe be a snorkling guide for rich women in a laguna in baja .

Ben, you are loved, you always will be. The misfortune put on you by one bad person is hard to have heard, and now leaving behind things you found special is quite a shock.
The lines need not be read between, Someone did this to you on purpose. Some bad karma will be coming for the person that did this. I for one would be sure to run them off the road if I knew who they were. The worst part is that you did everything possible to do right, but the supply chain and global breakdown was the cause.
So now you loose your shirt, and are feeling like quicksand. This is just not right. You are good hearted, you put yourself into your work for the good of others, and some jerk just kicks you because they can. JERKS!
I have always found your input to be like gold, because it has come from a heart of gold. I wish you well, and hope you feel more on solid ground soon. Take good care of yourself, and your family and close friends.
Please keep stopping by here on the samba, you are always able to bring good insight, and we all can grow together, even that you are not working on old rusty buses now.

i'm sorry. i've bit my tongue on both of his recent posts. his misfortune is well earned.
a while back he got called out on a vw/subaru page on FB for shoddy work on multiple swaps and threatened to kill someone who was not happy with him. the guy is a hot head, got booted from that group as well as others (as i recall) and after that his business (probably) took a nosedive.
i never want to see someone fail but he's not telling the full story here. i'm sure i can reach out to the folks involved and grab screen captures of how unhinged this guy is.
people fuck up all the time. it's how you handle your fuck up's that make or break you. a person is only as good as their reputation and once that's gone, it can be dam near impossible to come back from.
there are a handful of shops that will work on vanagons that are always backlogged so what he's going thru isn't due to lack of interest in the platform. it's due to word getting out about how he conducts his business and treats the public

Ha ha, in over 147 engine conversion done and on over 200 stock engine done I may I done mistake.. your English should be more simple since you know I am french speaking, it feel arch or ugly.
You know SHIT bro, so just don't say shit that will piss me off... This customer, bad engine swap I agree, he came to CANADA and was from down south USA.
He wanted me to come south to fix the engine after driving so many mile... ha ha ha, I said NO, come back UP and I will swap it.. He gave me a ton of shit

look in the mirror. you brought your situation upon yourself. you have always had this "kiss the ring" vibe like you walk on water. the way you have treated people and talked down to them is why you're in the situation you are in.
you have taken zero accountability for anything that has gone wrong and have made your customers feel like shit towards the end, hence the reason you got booted from all the FB groups.
