I am really sorry to hear about his passing. I truly hope he was at peace when he transitioned.

Here’s an article that Stephanie shared on Facebook today. It was featured in Hot VWs a few years ago and Bob discusses a bit about his life and how he came to enjoy VWs.

The shop that he credits with being a reason for his VW addiction, Hodi’s VW, is still in the same corner in NJ, and still ran by Bob’s VW mentors son. I’ve spent many nights in that 2 bay and 2 man shop helping out or having a few beers after a long day. Bob’s mentor Lajos Hodi and his son Lou Hodi always had great stories to tell about Bob and the time they all spent together.

Here’s a picture from last month with Hodi. Late night at the shop putting the 36hp motor back together and into my ragtop. This was around midnight, and the next morning I hit the road at 6am and drove that thing 512 miles straight to my new home 4 states away.

The aircooled community, specifically the bus community, will always remember Bob for the great man he was!

Great photo! Kinda says it all, a Man with his dog in his Bus! I never met Bob but knew of him. Rest in Peace Bob!

I moved from New Jersey to North Carolina. 59 ragtop handled it like a champ in the December weather, I even had the ragtop open the whole way Laughing
