I have a Split of 1966 with chassisnumber 246176967.
Is there sombody who can tell me what kind of gearbox (code) there was orginal mounted.

Do you want the original serial number? I can probably get you an approximate number. It is a tunnel type, Big Nut reduction boxes, no seal on the nosecone, 4 forward gears synchronized, reverse, steel shift forks, so far what else...H in number.

Here is an October '65 bus transmission number so that is 1966 model year:
H 8281060. Bellhousing and starter end bushing is 6 volt size.

Here is an October '66 bus transmission number so that is 1967 model year:
H94595476. Bellhousing and starter end bushing is 12 volt size.

There are facts regarding original ratios and improvements but anyone could have changed what was in it unless it is virgin.
