Lately, there have been stolen Vw Vanagons and I would like to see if someone can please help me identify this relays switch in my fuse box. By removing one of this relay switch, thieves won’t be able to start the engine and deter from stealing my beloved Vanagon. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading my topic. Here is my fuse box compartment.

Sorry, there nothing in the front of that fuse/relay panel that is needed for the engine to start and/or run.

You could pull every relay and fuse from it and it wouldn't keep the van from being driven.

The relay(s) you are looking for are in the engine compartment.

By the way, I forgot to ask you this. Will it cause any damage if I accidentally start the engine if I forgot to reinstall the relay?

If either the fuel injection or fuel pump relay are removed the engine isn't going to start.

Both the Fuel Injection and the Fuel Pump relays are in the black box mounted on the left wall of the engine compartment.

That's my patented tool for relay removal... but I no longer carry the spares in there. I found that in really hot weather (110*+) the relays benefit from the extra air space inside the box (or so it seems).
