Hello,
I'm about halfway done with a 1972 super beetle restoration/build. I want to register it so I can drive as needed so will need to add a sideview mirror. A previous owner deleted the mirrors, including the mounting holes. Does anyone know of a kit that would allow me to add a mirror and just drill smaller holes? Or similar? |

If the door is apart, you might identify where the old hole was and just drill a new hole there. Chances are, they didn't remove the female threads welded inside the door. Otherwise, you can probably find something you like and just bolt it on. _________________ 1972 Standard Beetle

They sell female "nut plates" to slide or glue up in the doors for factory mirror mounts.
My passenger triangular nut plate is loose up in my passenger door, but has the stock passenger mirror attached to it. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

My bug was missing the internal nut inside the passenger door. I bought a nut with the right size and pitch, and JB-welded it inside. Its not easy, you slop the glue on there and then with long needle nosed pliers you reach it in there and hold it while the 5 minute epoxy cures. I think I remember also running a piece of string thru the hole and the nut to help guide it in to its intended position. After it cured I let it go a day before I screwed the mirror in. Worked fine. _________________ 1968 Beetle (storage)

Hinge pin mounted mirror is another option, unless you don’t like the look. Hinge mounted mirrors on my 73 Super.
