Heap of turds for the most part. Either butchered, rusty or beaten to death…like most Ghias. Difference being making a lowlight right is very, very expensive.

Sad to see a lowlight "improved" like this!!! Especially a convertible no less. Too few were built to see one end up like this.

You must have meant this one Marc.

The classic appearance of the original has actually been enhanced by replacement of the front and rear bumpers, removal and filling in body side moldings, and installation of custom 5 spoke 17x7=1/2 oversized correctly off set polished alloy wheels with performance tires.

Yes, I linked the wrong ad. I corrected my post. Sorry Embarassed

If the owner was looking through a Karmann Ghia colour swatch and decided this was Trout Blue, they have serious eye problems. Rolling Eyes

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to low-lights but the 57 looks decent.
It's in Germany.

Hope everyone posts whatever lowlight they find for sale no matter what the condition. But, yeah, that one looks pretty sweet.

The original color was trout blue on the car. He knows the paint is not OG color. I know this car & owner personally. Won't comment on the price, but it is a cool car.

I can't see the point of advertising the original colour when every trace is sadly missing...one of my favourite Lowlight colours. The interior matches the later exterior.

The ash tray was left the original paint, lol. He has talked about going back to the stock color. Maybe a nice 36 horse too.

I think as Lowlights have increased in value over the last 10 years, you're not going to find a lot of love for the custom variety, especially here in a specialist forum. There are plenty of people still looking for Lowlights but factor in the cost of restoring the colour, engine and interior of your friend's car, makes it a non-starter at $35k. Sad

The reason for Trout Blue is the boat vinyl interior, clearly.

Yes, you are preaching to the choir. Not my car, not my sale, but still a cool old ghia regardless. If it were mine id happily drive it & restore to it's former glory.

Although I agree that a low-light deserves more respect than that one received, I do like the way they finished it. The sad part is that the same look could have been accomplished with a later, more abundant model. For the record, I would never molest a low-light ...if I could afford one.

That's quite a reasonable price, as far as European prices go. I wonder what's wrong with it, says the demon sitting on my shoulder. Wink
