77 vw bus heads for a 1975 914 1.8

Working on a 1975 1.8 914 in neglected shape and found a large crack in previously rebuilt heads, want to just toss them. The crack is from the head gasket area to the already inserted spark plug hole. Found new heads available for a 77 1800 vw bus, but not for a 1.8 914. Are they not the same?? Thanks!

If the Bus heads' exhaust ports are oval like those on the 914, they will work. However, Bus heads are more prone to cracking that heads on a 914, so you should inspect them carefully before buying them.

Ordered a set of new AMC heads from Pelican parts, I guess I'll find out when they get here....wish me luck!

The engine is together and so far the only difference is the location of the temp sensor. there is a boss where the original location of the head sensor was that could be drilled and tapped if so desired......

AA pistons has recently come out with their own casting of the 3 stud 914/912E 3 stud heads with 42x36 valves, much better priced than the AMC heads and better quality. I have a few sets available for $775 plus shipping (no tax)....
