Hi,

I recently replaced the indicator stalk in my 74 Brasilia. Everything worked OK except for the full beam light on the opposite side from the driver (L14 on diagram below).

I swapped the light unit over with the other side, and same problem, so not the bulb/light unit.

I then removed the earth wire for the full beam, and the head light (they're separate units on a Brasilia), and cleaned them up, along with the screw/washer that fixes them to the bodywork.

New problem; when I put the full beam on, not only does it not light up, but the headlight on that side (L2) also now goes out at the same time.

Here is a wiring diagram for a Brasilia: -

I'd welcome any suggestions as to any things I should check to rule things out as my electrical knowledge is limited.

TIA.

Whatbyounaee describing sounds like a grounding issue to me, but it might be the ground on that light or on some other light. If a ground is bas somewhere, the electricity gets diverted in some weird ways in these cars.

Going through all the grounds in the whole car, everywhere, and for all lights, can magically cure some really bizarre behavior in a volkswagen.

Also, my headlight switch wiring in a super beetle was plugged in the incorrect order, causing bizarre behavior like you describe. I replaced the headlight switch and got the wires sorted on it correctly and all was well.

Good luck!
