64 Ghia Cpe, Resto/Mod/Hot Rod not stock: no dash pad, speaker/radio in car when just purchased.
Has anyone tried / mounted a Retro Manufacturing Std Series Dash Replacement Speaker 56-74, that has dual channel( Rt / LT) inputs. I'm considering one of RM, high tech pricey radios with bluetooth, inputs/ outputs etc. Or should I just mount front speakers elsewhere in front, somewhere. |

IMO the more stock looking you can keep the interior the better. And if you're going to be using a radio that can output a stereo signal, this speaker is a good idea. I've never been a fan of how it looks to mount speakers on the front bulkhead in the footwell or elsewhere. _________________ Currently own:

Sound quality is not really a concern while listening to sound equipment in a car driving down the road. A stereo with a 10% Harmonic Distortion rating would sound good enough _________________ Daily driver: '69 Baja owned 44 yrs - Plan B: '81 Rabbit Diesel LS Deluxe - Plan C: '72 Ghia

I put a Retrosound unit in my 70, and used Action Glass kick panels to mount Rockford Fosgate 3 way speakers. I think it sounds good and looks good in the dash. I discussed going with a dash speaker with the Crutchfield rep, and he advised against it. With 1 speaker running both channels, he said you do not get enough separation of the speakers. Just my pennies worth. |

I have that retrosound center speaker. If you're looking to achieve the true time-capsule experience it'll push that button.
I very quickly grew weary of that and installed good speakers in the front kickpanels. _________________ '71 Ghia coupe |

Thanks Figmet: Which vendor has the best fitting front kick panels to mount
speaker? Probably all fiberglass from mold. I will assume everyone just carpets them in the same as interior? or Vinyl to match the doors?
The guy I purchased my GhiaVair from had some one install a j bugs "oatmeal"
carpet to match the Jbugs tan smooth interior kit he had installed.
If ya got any ( or anyone has ) pics of the front kick panels please post them . |

Not a real good picture, but the Action Glass kick panel inserts fit well, took just a little sanding. I have not carpeted them yet, as I am contemplating new carpet. |
