I have a 67 beetle. Having issues with first gear mainly. As I accelerate it is way to slow almost like it’s 2 nd gear. When I put it in reverse it responds quickly like I think 1st gear should do. Not sure why it’s so slow in first. I updated the spring and trans arm and the throw out bearing to a late model and had a late model clutch on the engine.
Bowden tube had a slight bend. Any ideas?

Sure you are in 1st and not 3rd?

That was my thought I was in 3rd. But It’s right where first should be and it feels like I can shift over to 3rd. Maybe I could check the shifter linkage.

I just checked again and I am definitely in 1st. Still hardly any power, but reverse responds quickly. Not sure why 1st doesn’t respond.

Maybe your emergency brake is not fully released.

I checked and that’s not it. Goes in reverse without a problem without revving it high.

You should make a video of what you're experiencing. It's a little tough to decipher from the messages in this thread.
