Looks good, I like it!
What size tires are you running front and rear? What brand front tire is that? |

Thanks y2kbaja
For the fronts I went with a cheap pep boys brand, starfire 215/75r15
They do ride good and I like that tread pattern on the front.
The rear are Americus 30x9.5x15 M&S I like em and they have the tread pattern I was looking for in the rear. |

Perfect, Thanks. They don't make an (affordable) A/T 215/75/15 so I've been trying to picture how a passenger tire front and A/T rear would look so seeing the visual helps a lot. Definitely need the size stagger to give the proper stance/rake to the car. |

I hear you.
These front tires were just under 100 out the door for the pair, I have a H.F. tire changer at home so no biggie.
Realistically this Bug will spend 90% of its life on pavement so this type of tire was the better option.

I did a test fit of the front bumper this morning and I have to be honest, I hate it !!!!
It just doesn't look right, plus it doesn't match the look of the rear.
I also dont like this big open spot near the shock tower.
Im not gonna get off easy with the front one, looks like more cut, chop and welding for me.
UGH!!

You know... beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that... but that face looks like an unhappy frog!
Mind you, I'm not a baja guy, but I do prefer the bug eyed style you have here, rather than the wide eyed, lights in the fender look.
I wanna say that back in my youth... when there were baja bugs every where, the front bumper on the bug eyed cars, the top tube attached to the top shock mount or somewhere there. To me, it gave the "face" a chin, or maybe a football helmet face guard.
Watching with interest. _________________

Last week I decided to do an engine swap between my ghia and the baja.
Been having an flickering oul light issue at idle on the ghia and have a dog house setup I've been wanting to put on for a while to see if that helps.
But me being a nostalgic kinda guy I've been wanting to put the ghia long lock into the baja simply because it was the motor I built for my first baja, lucky for me I removed it before selling the car. It was always a solid little 1914cc and I couldn't let it go.
So now it back into a baja where it belongs and I couldn't be happier.
1600cc from the baja into the ghia.
The 1914cc back where it belongs, in a baja!!

Hello again fellow Baja owners.
Ever since I got the rear engine cage on I've been trying to figure out a way to reinforce it at the upper mounts without making it over complicate or look stupid.
I finally came up with this removable brace.
Just tacked together it made a huge difference.
I might even make a spare tire mount outta it.
I pulled it out this morning to fully weld it up. |

Well. Not connecting it to a roll cage, but perhaps the next best thing. _________________ Richard

Yeah since it is gonna be a 95% street and 5% dirt baja I wanted to avoid going through the whole roll cage gig.
It is pretty solid now. |

Testing out a home made manifold I peaced together from odds n ends I had laying around. I already had the fixture from a few years ago.
1-1/2 dia. from carb to end casting. Seems to be working pretty good so far.

Looking good, I think the bug eye kit and black hood plus the roof paint all works together just right _________________ it's more fun loud and dirty |

Hey Dusty happy New year
I'm surprised an old veteran like you hadn't seen one of these before.
It's just a simple cover just like the round ones you would normally see on a solex carb or a zenith.
I scored these billet air filters a few weeks ago, traded a type 3 header and muffler for them.
Funny thing is I was using this one cover as a trash can on my work bench for the last 10-15 years. LOL
with all the rain we've been having lately I figured I better put it to use . . . hahaha
It does have a cut out on one corner because it was apparently used on a dual setup in a previous life.
