To Check, If my measurements were right, i had to get that exhaust Out of the Car, Putting in the Fan shroud, the air collector and the connective flexible tubing into it.

As you can see, there is Not much place for the oil infill. So for not having trouble with leaking oil, i made another part. This holds everything in place. And again measuring, cutting, bending, drilling and a welding process was necessary to get this problem solved!

Cut out two Ali Sheets and fixed them behind the openings with fiberglass putty.
Then i laminated two layers of fiberglass on the Ali Sheets:

Next step;
a little sanding to get a smoother surface, then adding some fiberglass putty on the fiberglass layers.
More about that later... _________________ VW Transporter 2004

the rear end is already done now too. i added several layers if fiberglass to it, the removed the ali sheets that were fixed on the inside.
next step is to open the area, where the lamborghini lights will be mounted later...

seat position:
to get a better access into the car (i am 1,93 m), i had to change the seat support from the simca rally 2 seat.
i cut out twice some material out of the subframe and changed the angle and seat position. now there is some more place for my head.
here is the area marked with some tape where i had to cut out additional material.
pic will follow _________________ VW Transporter 2004

dash:
the dash had some cutouts for three additional (but not really necessary) instruments on the left side of the steering wheel.
these holes were handlaminated with three layers of fiberglass and some fine fiberglass putty.

dash part two:
the right side of the dash needed some attention too!
there were two cutouts for whatever... maybe a heater adjustment??
of course they were closed by adding some layers of fiberglass and fiberglass putty too!

dash part three:
i first mounted a 36 cm raid steering wheel, which is unfortunately from the late 70 and early 80´s. so it was not conform to the building time period of the car.
i took a rare indianapolis steering wheel, that i bought years ago for my karmann gf beach buggy, but never mounted it there.
it has a diameter of 38 cm, the maximum that i could use.
I think this one represents best the italian style of the car!
the 42 cm original steering wheel is way too big and i have no more place for my legs in the car! _________________ VW Transporter 2004

dash part four:
the slightly bigger steering wheel is looking good, but the visibility to the odometer is not good. so i built another ali sheet with the cutouts vice versa for the clock and the odometer.
looking better now

You're flying through all the work!
How difficult is it nowadays in Germany to register the Bonanza body onto a VW chassis, and then to have it pass the TUeV inspection?
Rear of your Bonanza reminds me of the Amante GT. This one used Ford Maverick taillamps, which was a common small car in the USA in the early 1970's. Zkidd86 gallery.
Your slotted 5-bolt stock steel wheels are 4.0" wide, not 4.5". You can see the factory stamping 4Jx15 in your silver-painted wheel. |

The Amante GT is one of my favourites too.
Well, If you have no title for the car, it is almost impossible to get it registered as a Kit Car, because the VIN says it is a beetle.
It is possible, but you need informations about the builder, the used fiberglass, technical datas, etc.. .
In this case a former employee from Fiberfab came back to Germany and started in 1966 a dependancy of fiberfab to offer the Aztec. One year later he started the Bonanza, that appeared on the IAA in Frankfurt.
I talked some months ago to his son who sent me some great Hi-Res Pics from a 1968 photo shoot that weren't offered yet to the public. _________________ VW Transporter 2004

yes, you´re right with the slotted wheels. 4 inches is correct, not 4,5 inches.
my mistake.
one reason why i think i won´t use them on the car. i can drive only 155/80/15 tires on them.
on 4,5 inches i can drive 165/80/15.
that´s why i think to use some bigger wheels on the rear, thinking of 5,5 inches.
i have some standard wheels in this dimension here. or maybe some pedrinis? or a set of baby fuchs wheels? or some basic lemmerz/empi sprint stars?
actually the car has a 4 lug pattern. with front disc brakes.
when using a 5 lug pattern i have to go back to drums on the front. and getting a set of front type axle studs and drums for a 64 squareback (donor chassis) is even here in germany not that easy anymore... _________________ VW Transporter 2004

interiorwise i decided to give the car a lamborghini like look.
i decided to take some fake leather (vinyl) in sandbeige.
here a shot of a 70/71 lamborghini interior:
the first thoughts about installing a black interior were quickly put back into the trash can.
with such a big windshield and rear window, the small interior will heat up too much, so a lighter colour is the choice of the day. _________________ VW Transporter 2004

Thanx Steve!
I am doing Vintage Car restorations for more than 30 years now. Most of them are VW Beetles. _________________ VW Transporter 2004

Reworking the Instruments for the Bonanza GT...
Dismantling the clock...
Glasses before and after...
Dismantling the Combi Instrument and adding new glue to the cap:
Cleaning everything, gluing the Caps back into the gauge:
Primering and painting the Ring Elements, polishing the Chrome Rings and then reassembling everything:
I have the choice now...
up left: 1964 combi instrument 6 volt
up right: 1970 combi instrument 12 volt
down left: 1966 clock 6 volt
down right : 1970 clock 12 volt _________________ VW Transporter 2004

Some small progress on the wheels.
I wanted to know how the different wheels look on the Car.
So i put them on stones and wooden sheets.
I tried normal hubcap wheels, Pedrinis and Lemmerz Sprint Stars, as well the Kronprinz.
