So I bought a August51 from a friend who got it from South America
It’s now in Melbourne Australia
It’s my first pre 55 beetle so learning these are so very different to post 55 cars.
I have loads of questions and a bit of guidance
It looks like I need a steel fuel cap not the Ali one I have.
Not sure what colour the speedo face should be.

Found the correct air filter here in Australia.
Surprisingly as these cars were never imported here. |

nice project! but when you have gemini in the title are you meaning zwitter? a '51 split is too early to be a zwitter, what you have is a crotch cooler split.
the speedo looks to be the correct colour to me - brownish grey
the number plate light is from an oval, your car should have a proper 'popes nose'

It has 36hp cylinder tins so the engine is probably a 36hp with a few 25hp external parts, such as the distributor and air cleaner. The fuel pump and carb appear to be zwitter/ '53 25hp parts.
What is the engine number?

It has 25hp dates.
Not to stressed about the engine at this. |

Got the birth certificate
Oct 51.
Was delivered to a dealership in Argentina
Anyone else have a Argentina delivered split? |

Started soaking all the bolts and checking to see if there is damage to the frame head.
Lots of work to do.
I have been sourcing all the missing bits and still loads to find and replace.
The car does have its original 25hp motor and does trim over.
The K manifold is partly there in pics above.
