Had the timing belt snap on my GTI on the freeway, naturally. Damage wasn't too bad, but now I'm looking at replacing all the valves in the head since only replacing a few of them didn't make sense to me; might as well do 'em all while I've got the head off.
Trouble is, I'm having a hell of time finding a set of valves that are correct for a 1.8T AWW engine. Is a set of valves for this thing seriously over $300, or am I not looking in the right places? I had a set on order from Partsgeek.com, but despite the listing showing plenty in stock, they're out .
The valves are the last thing I need to finish fixing this thing, any suggestions or recommended retailers would be appreciated. _________________ 1965 Deluxe Beetle "Camilla"

The valves at the dealer are $74+ each, $300 for 20 sounds like a deal.
Be sure to check your lifters, the four center intake lifters usually get peened pretty severely.
I also hope that you’re doing valve guides, those same four guides also tend to crack when the valves get doglegged. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Thanks for the heads up, when I get the head torn down I'll check all the guides and tappets to see how bad things are. My main concern is just locating a vendor with the correct valves for a 1.8T AWW code block; it seems like there's a million variations online. _________________ 1965 Deluxe Beetle "Camilla"
