My brake system is totally clean, no fluid.
I have some synthetic DOT3 on hand.
Okay to use or should I find something else? _________________ 87 Doka 2WD Ej22,

Is it comprised of 100% new parts? Particularly all of the rubber parts. The metal parts really should be new too so you know there is no rust anywhere. This goes for the hard lines too. I have never used the synthetic but I has always read that you need to have all new rubber parts and the system has to be 100% clean to make the switch. _________________ Chris

You may be thinking about Dot 5 Silicone. The system has to be flushed and totally dry to convert to that from Dot 3 as they are totally incompatible- mixing them will soften the hoses and swell them shut. Synthetic Dot 3 is compatible with regular Dot 3 so no problem. _________________ Aloha,

I used the DOT 5 in both of my classics. As stated, you must have a totally clean system. I had all new lines, wheel cylinders and master cylinder.
The DOT 5 seems to work well for me.
