Question : My 1772 411 fastback (recently purchased) has stickers along the bottom doors / rocker "Formula Vee" . does this mean anything, well beside one of the last owners bought Super beetle stickers and stuck them on ?

The formula vee stripes were simply something you could buy from a dealer or have them installed. That was during a time when formula vee open car racing was very popular. It means nothing really… the car is not mechanically altered in any way. Just a visual.

Formula Vee specified a 1200cc engine originally, later increased to 1600 for some classes, so Type 4s were never allowed. Someone just liked the look, though it's kinda silly if you know the FV rules...

Formula Vee was VW's line of accessories in the 70s...look for the Accessories brochures under the Archives tab.
