Does it go above the driver, or the passenger?

I put the rear one on the driver's side. I think that's right.

There were two little horse logos that went on the left and right side of the luggage rack but the front facing Westfalia lettering didn't appear until the Vanagons.

Yes. Only on the back, to the driver's side.

Great, I just put one on the back of my 76. Oh well, screw it, only the truly wise ones will know it wasn't supposed to be there.
I bought two of them- 1 for the front, and one for the back.

I see now in the catalogue that they are listed as 79-91- screw it, mine is now a "special edition."

Is the sticker supposed to go on the bottom section of the top, or the top section of the top (where it steps up and in)?

I believe the word WESTFALIA, on the left rear of the pop top, appeared 1st on the 78 year models.....
