Do you have tires on all the sets of wheels you run on your cars? Or switch out the tires? |

Do you buy tires for every set you run? Or swap them out when you switch your wheels? I like to run different wheels every year, I alternate through a few sets. I have access to a tire machine from work, but is it easier to have tires on them all ready to go? Let me know. _________________ 1957 Oval Semaphore Beetle

Tires have a shelf life and are expensive. Makes no sense to me to have 7 sets of wheels with tires rotting on them waiting to get used. |

On my daily drivers I always keep 2 sets mounted ready to go, summers and winters. The exception being my Dodge 1 ton. The winters stay on it all year around. With daily drivers they wear out before they time out. The time out figure varies depending on who you talk to. My experiance is that as long as they are kept out of the sun they last for many many years.
Timely subject as I am in the process of changing my street Buggy over to Porsche/Chevy bolt pattern so I will have a choice of 4 different sets of wheels that will fit. 3 of them will also fit my 944 so 4 sets between 2 cars.
Yes they will all have tires permanently mounted because I am nervous about damage to my expensive Fuchs rims by some young green, rammy tire jock swapping tires back and forth. The unused ones will stay inside.
I have successfully run tires that were kept inside and possibly 30 years old. I don't know how old they are, no manufacturing date on them. _________________ We had the stone age, the bronze age, the industrial age and now we are in the age of mass deception and mind control for corporate profit. I can agree with that! I have three cars with the same pattern and one wide 5. _________________ 1957 Oval Semaphore Beetle

I can relate to all that as I alternate my sets between cars too. _________________ 1957 Oval Semaphore Beetle

I swap wheels on my cars from time to time. They always have tires already mounted. It's enough of a pain to just change them. If they get old or checked I just replace them. _________________ Paul.

I can agree, I have a few sets in 4x130 mounted on tires and some I have swapped tires around on. Having three cars 4x130 makes it more justifiable to have tires on the wheels to just bolt up when I want to switch it up. _________________ 1957 Oval Semaphore Beetle

Not a major wheel collector compared to many, but I have Fuchs in 4.5, 5.5, Deep 6 and 7R. All will have tyres mounted so I can swap out depending on mood. |
