I'm very familiar with the engine but less clear on what people like to do with them.
Personally I think the van is too small to handle the weight and vibration of that engine.

Ok thank you

Any recommendation for a replacement for a 454 cu in chevrolet engine?

Also has a 456 duel rear with positraction.

Hoping for some kind of diesel swap.

Luv my 7.3 powerstroke. Pre emissions, 300 ish hp, 500 ish ft lb, 40 hp tow tune. Keep it under 2000 rpm and knock out almost 20 mpg.

I have no clue to be honest.
See a lot of the cummins because they are very practical to rebuild.
Duramax and newer ford 6.4 and 6.7 diesels are not very good to rebuild.
Best look at a diesels that I'm not familiar with.
If it doesn't break then I'll never see one.

Is that the 4 cylinder? The mags have shown several of the 4 cylinders swapped into jeep size vehicles. Cummins used to offer a fairly complete engine kit. Several years ago the kit was around 10k.
The older 12 valves are popular swaps because of the simple wiring requirements.

that may be a bit too much gear for a diesel. I wood go for a twin turbo small 6 cylinder gas or diesel...of coarse we did just buy a 2021 twin turbo crew cab ford truck ( gas)
I would not go with the 4le trans,I wood go with 6,8 or 10 speed.but there is a good amout of electronics to those. of coarse you could buy a newer crashed drive train& harness/putter combo for a "drop in" modern tech at a pretty good deal most of the time. choose your poison.

( for the engine you're thinking on, I would not worry about vibration, just install it right and there should be no issues.) one thing to remember. You don't need piles of horsepower just to go down the road, thus the6, 8&10 speed trans now days. hp& tq are needed for starting off and uphill. Witch the 6,8&10 speed trans help immensely. think it out, so there is no doubt. good luck.
