Finally got around to digitizing an old video in my collection.
Made by Hand is an early 1960s factory tour of the Porsche, Reutter and Drauz facilities showing the construction of the 356 from sheet steel to finished car.
Five segments totalling about 45mins on YouTube:

Thank you very much. You ROCK! for doing this. Many memories did this bring for me. I used to drive an aetna blue 60 daily. T5 is my fav body. While i do love all the earlier cars, the t5 seemed to be the best of both worlds.End of the best looking early cars, but prior to square hoods, and twin grilles on deck. mine had an s90 in it, and it was so much fun to buzz up to 100. smooth.
*sigh* i will have another someday. _________________ Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.

Amazing, did you see the guy installing the doors in part 2? One guy just lifts a fully assembled door with one arm and installs it on to the car with his other one using his knees.
Don't you want to scream at them when they start applying the undercoating to the bare steel though? |
