I guess the apron goes underneath? It probably fit better that way so after you remove it you will have to figure out how to make if fit better under the channel. |

That seal channel should have been trimmmed back before they fitted the apron. Looks like you’ll need to remove the apron to correct it. Or loosen it enough to dig out the piece of seal channel. Also looks like the apron might be a little high, just based on how it lines up with the lower fender edge. Details man!
Sort of a shame that was overlooked before _________________ modok wrote:

Ya I was helping out my buddy who is a so called metal Fab person. And let’s just say we are not cool anymore and this took him six months to do. Shame |

Hey Rob,
Not to knock anybody replying in this thread, but you may request that Everett move this thread to the Ovals forum, it will get much, much more traffic from a lot of guys who have dealt with these type of issues. Most guys actually inquire within the model-specific forums for these very specific issues such as yours. _________________ My name's Steve and it's pronounced "Bust 'em" (cuz people think I'm Tom) 😏 |

Guessing you should drill out the plug welds or spot welds, grind off any bead and pull the apron off the car. Then, install it correctly. _________________ Jimbo

It just needs to be redone. Based on the pictures it's hard to tell exactly what they screwed up but they didn't fit it correctly before welding. Probably got impatient and/or didn't know what they were doing. Easy enough to do. Hopefully they didn't make a mess of the spot welds and you can drill them out easy enough _________________ 1967 Bug ( the daily rod )

What I'm doing on mine is removing the c channel entirely and placed a seal on the deck lid itself. Check the classifieds and you'll see the one I picked up from a Samba member.
In your case you can either slightly lift up the apron and cut the c channel out from under, then remove the rest and use this different type of seal ... Or lift the apron up, trim the c channel back so it's above the apron and then install the new v channel around the apron. Like I said, I chose the first option. |

Ya I sent that seal it’s called a “mexi seal” and I might use it and it I heard it makes a better seal. Thanks for the help i appreciate it |
