I'm trying to figure out which would be better for a long travel a-arm build(connecting A-arms to the spindle.). I've read that ball joints are supposed to be stronger than heims but then I read that ball joints will blow out over a good bump.Kind of contradictory information. ball joints would allow me more spindle options (still gotta figure out if I can fit a vw rim onto a Ford spud, etc) . Anyone have any recommendation? I'm working with a tight budget. I greatly appreciate your input. Thanks. BTW: these are the spindles I'm eyeballing at the moment https://www.google.com/shopping/product/7724357793...HUQ8wIIhws

I used to have a buddy that owned an off-road 4x4 shop 15 yrs ago or so. When he’d build his 4 or 3 link or whatever type link suspension he’d use tie rod ends from a semi, i believe freighliner , maybe? Regardless of make, he told me they were good so something like 80,000 psi tinsel strength ( i could be wrong about that number ) and the main bonus to using then vs. heims is that if one breaks you can buy the freightliner tie rod at about any local parts store.
May not be info on performance that your looking for but i always thought it was a good thing to consider

Use Uniballs spherical bearings at spindles.

unfortunately not all spindles are designed to work with uniballs. My budget doesn't work with them either. Thanks.
