If you look at the lower bracket that the spring attaches to on the firewall, you'll see several holes. Your springs are probably on one of the lower settings, like this one taken from the gallery. If you put the springs on a higher up hole, your decklid will stay open at a higher position.
You'll have to squeeze the spring arm with vice grips, and be careful because there is spring tension involved. I had to do this on the 67 I owned about 5 years ago. I don't recall whether it was difficult to move the springs, but I did do it so it couldn't have been too difficult

i am not an expert but i think the spring adjustment is to adjust the tension on the spring to make sure it stays open (depending on the weight of the deck lid)
what i want to do is make the lid open more
the crotch of the hinge bracket that attaches to the lid hits the bracket to stop it from opening further
i need to modify that part to allow the lid to open more |

This is not a modification of the existing hinge assembly, rather a complete replacement of it.
You can use the hinges from a 2012 Nissan Maxima, fabricate some mounts, fabricate mounting brackets/plates for the lid, and have a crazy custom setup. I am looking into the viability of this approach which is why I mention it. These hinges have the potential to open the lid almost completely vertically and move it forward and out of the way when fully open.

I haven't seen any but it shouldn't be too difficult to throw one together using your hinges as a reference. If you want to try your hand at designing a hinge that could fit into the existing location you can use a free program called "Linkage". There's a link to several YT videos on how to use Linkage at the top of the download page.

Correct. I misunderstood what you were asking. I thought you had a sagging engine lid and wanted it to stay fully open. I didn't realize you're trying to get it to open beyond the original limits. Disregard my comment! _________________ Currently own:
