Restoring dashboard

Hi all,

Has anyone had any luck trying to restore cracked dashboards? I am wondering if there is anything that can be used to reduce the cracking and/or protect it better.

I've had really good results with 3M marine vinyl cleaner/restorer. I love that stuff. Check out this thread:

I have an 85 with a cracked dash. Is the foam bonded to a metal base which can be painted to look like an earlier dash or is the earlier dash completely different?
