I have some manuals that show different types of flywheel to crank seals.
It appears there are three types
1.. A paper gasket (used with straight flywheel to crank joint).
2...A metal shim (used with tapered flywheel to crank joint).
3. An Oring seal around the crank to flywheel joint.(used on flywheels with Oring groove).
Is this correct?
What type will be on a 1966 1300 cc * stock original motor?

The 1966 Beetles imported to USA had 1300cc engines. There are lots of threads re your gasket question(s). For example, this one may be helpful; especially the post by mukluk, just a few posts below/after this one:
