Based on the taillights, deck lid and steering wheel, appears to be a '72.

FWIW, that's an 80s or newer vintage Brazilian decklid as evidenced by the wide middle spacing between the sets of vents. |
Thank you! Yes, something seemed odd about the deck lid, to me, but I didn't give it much thought ... figured 4 louvers = '71 and later. Thanks for pointing out this detail. _________________ Tom

Spotted this JavaGreen 67 this afternoon coming out of the post office.
I've seen this car before and it is extremely nice.

Similar on the Arizona highways. I drive a 1988 Mazda B2200 truck as a daily driver, and haven't seen a 1986-1993 Mazda truck on any road anywhere in the last 1.5 years.
The Mazda truck is the one on the right.

Seeing an air cooled VW here is the automotive equivalent of fossil/arrow head hunting. This time of the year they are all frozen in place and covered with snow even if you do know where to look. Even in the summer you need to be well educated as to their whereabouts, in the right circle of peers and you can unearth small groups of them gathered in out of the way places.
As for chancing upon them in the wild... in the summer... just random sightings... by accident... it does happen but it is very rare now. The ground has been well picked over for loose ones out on their own for many years now! _________________ We had the stone age, the bronze age, the industrial age and now we are in the age of mass deception and mind control for corporate profit.
