Any advice on what could be causing the knocking sound coming from the right rear of my baja when I hit even the slightest bump? I have already tried a few things based on input from others. But I cant seem to get this figured out. Any help greatly appreciated

I have already lowered the car 1 spline to give more clearance to the stop under the spring plate (figured I may have been maxed out so it was hitting)

I also swapped the KYB shocks for EMPI Coil Overs (I know not real Coil Overs) thinking they might be bottoming out

And last I removed the engine and replaced all the trans mounts thinking it may have been twisting and causing a knock somehow.

I am at a loss and could really use the help.

Have a look at the body mount bushings in the fender well, above the shock tower.
It may look fine. But can be crushed at the area you cannot see.

My 67 made a funny/annoying clunk. This occurred even when crossing over paint stripes on the roadway.

I had a similar thing happening on my Trail Rail. It seemed to be a kind of sharp knocking sound or clacking and it drive me crazy for a while. It turned out to be a loose bearing in the pocket on the rear trailing arm. I center punched the socket full of dimples, smeared in a thin layer of JB Weld and used a bolt to press/pull in a new West German bearing. It's been fine for quite a while now.

Check the axle nuts, but more likely is a loose shock bolt, as in the hole is too big/worn in the trailing arm or shock mount, or the bolt is too small and loose there or even in the shock. I have a worn out lower right shock bushing and it does the same thing

I once went through similar sound. Replaced CV joints blah blah.
Turns out the rear shocks were rocking in the lower shock mount.
Sometimes it’s the simplest of things.

+1 on this, I had the same problem, I stuck in a stack of washer and it was gone.
