Hello
I'm now owner of a Sept 1953 convertible 😊
I have fews questions about thing I'm not familiar with.
- Does this dashboard grab handle original for a 53 convertible or should I have the more common aluminum and beige one?
- Does all convertible had body karmann badges, if yes what's correct design for a 53?
Thanks

Looks like a period accessory usually used on split sedans. The handle pictured in subsequent posts is what came standard from Karmann.

The one pictured on the 54 accessory guide looks like a blend between the two

Hello
Thank you for the help
I'll remove the aluminum handle and fit an other one as grailoc has.
I'm wondering what's the M082 option on my birth certificate, if someone knows?
Other question : how made are the roof handles with hook?
My door panel and seat are original green leatherette, should I have beige fabric as sedan seats? Or leatherette made.
Previous owner rebuilt them with green fabric from headliner

M082 shows two possibilities

82 Front indicators with lateral light diffusion
from Chassis No. 116 463 103 up to 117 999 000 111-118, 151, 152 Denmark

82 Mounting parts for first aid kit
from Chassis No. 111 2000 001 111-118, 151, 152; M 1

as to the rear hand strips i've found no evidence for them prior to may 1954 in this february '54 convertible manual
it seems as if one po did mount them subsequently and even in a pleasant and tasty manner.

there was no factory dashboard grab handle up to 5-1954 but accessory solutions like the one in your car. won't you keep it?
from 5-1954 they offered it by request but there was no colour quoting.

this was my entry concerning those hand straps:

it seems as if one po did mount them subsequently and even in a pleasant and tasty manner.

from may 1954 onwards vw offered assist straps made of fabric but i'm unsure about how they were fixed.
later on they were eventually done in synthetic material.
feel free to maintaining them now that they are in place.

Hello skim
Wow yes!! Almost twin sister if you look at the vin number 😊
What's the color of your convertible?
Anyone has a picture of what looks like the L211 blueish green with original paint?

Yes I have found this topic also
No many survivors rims with this color I think 😅
It's not said in the chart color, I guess rim outer ring is painted body color beige green in my case?
