Hello.
Maybe not the correct forum to search, but I think here has the most viewers who could happen to have.
As the title says, I am searching for a pre 2020 CB 2239 cam. New or good used.
Price, U tell me.
Please send me a PM or Email.
Thanks much

I think a have a used 2241 and a 2246 somewhere in my mess. I would call the 2241 as being w110ish. _________________

Dude Man,
I'm no help either. I have good Erson VW-200 with matching lifters...

I have one of these. What is unique about pre 2020 or post 2020? |

Now I'm curious as well. I have one as well. Did they make them with a gold core?
I'm not interested in selling it because it's going in my build when life actually let's me get to it. I've got more money in cam bearings than the cam. Hint* don't use the silverline double thrust bearings.. |

After futzing with multiple sets of the Silverline Double Thrust bearings, I came to the conclusion that each bearing half was like 50.1% of a circle. So when they got torqued in the case, they would go all taco shaped and pinch the cam.
When I had my case worked on, Carcraft ran a cam bearing bar through the case to ensure the cam tunnel was true. They can actually shrink over time. The cutter *just* kissed a few places, so I'm pretty sure the case was true.
Further evidence that the case was fine, and the silverline double thrust bearings were the problem was when I finally got a set of Mahle double thrust. The case went together and the cam spins like glass. The Mahle bearings were noticeably heavier as well. |

The pre 2020 version is slightly shorter duration which is good for some of my specific build. The post 2020 version is not a bad cam, at all, in fact I find it quite good, but for a slightly different focus area. If you build your engine well the new 39 is right behind the W110, only with significantly more bottom end and less power above 5300. 110-115 hp is not uncommon in dual carbed 1776 engines with good small valve heads.
When CB gets their cam business up and running again, I hope they raise the price by 5 or 10 bucks and slow down the grinding process so the cams get more precise. Thay helps incredibly much with both power, valve control and running noise. _________________ https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=435993 |

[quote="jpaull"]Regarding cam bearings, Mahle Dual Thrust Cam bearings are back in stock now. ($30) No reason to mess with silverline.
thanks for that link! |

Maybe their grinding machine and master blanks are old and worn out. _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK
