1963 Beetle Chassis Project came without a pushrod. I purchased one like this.

https://www.mtmfg.com/part/view/brake-master-cylin...rTEALw_wcB

I have a stock master cylinder, but this pushrod is way too short - Even when adjusted to it's max.

What am I doing wrong? Did I buy the wrong rod?

Could be the wrong part, could be your pedal stop needs adjusted. What is the measurement from the top of your brake pedal straight forward to the firewall? How much freeplay are you seeing?

Thank you for that information. That's very helpful. I have the pedal set for 200mm travel, and the pushrod come completely out of the MC even at it's maximum length. It may be the wrong part - but there are lots of sellers advertising these saying they fit my application. I realize they need adjustment, but any idea approximately it should be in a typical setup?

That pushrod looks way to short. My beach buggy is an August '63 chassis (so early '64 model year) and my brake pushrod looks like version "A" in this Samba ad. I have used that pushrod with the stock original master cylinder, with a '66 down Bus master cylinder (used to be commonly sold as a buggy master cylinder) and with a late model Bug dual circuit master cylinder (that is what I run now).

Thanks EVfun - It is way too short. Max I can get out of it is about 120mm. I don't see how they can be marketing these to fit. I just ordered another one. We'll see if it fits.
