If you had a universal gauge that displayed multiple things in your ordinary, road driven (not track) ACVW, what information would you find useful for everyday driving?
Some ideas are below, what else would you add?
1. Current speed
2. Direction of travel
3. Current time
4. Engine RPM
5. Outside temperature
6. Fuel level
7. Oil temperature
8. Temperature near the thermostat
What else?

I have a PLX multi gauge setup.
https://www.plxdevices.com/PLX-MultiGauges-and-Sensors-s/108.htm
Currently monitoring oil pressure and temperature, cylinder head temperature, AFR and RPM. I have their touchscreen gauge and the Bluetooth module to display on my phone.
They have sensors for a lot more things than I need.
It’s not all displayed at once on the gauge but it is on my phone. _________________ Volkswagen!

too much information in a small space. I want what I have. I can look at whatever I want to know. My head is out there in front and around the car, not stuck in my dash. I also train my co-pilot what is normal and if they see something odd they can mention it.

It is a lot of extraneous information.
For all the money I spent on it the only gauges I really look at are the gas gauge and the speedometer.
The AFR was useful in tuning though. _________________ Volkswagen!

Tach, cylinder head temp, and oil temp gauge. I did leave my wideband installed, which helped diagnose a clogged fuel filter once on the limp back to the shop. I have a usb cigarette adapter with a voltage readout for belt mishaps and load on my power inverter when running my camp fridge or anything else while driving. I finally converted to a gps speedo to rid notchy cables. |

Speed and gas.... what the factory knew you needed.
But some will disagree.

CHT and oil pressure on a long run.
AFR and CHT on a short run.
Plus oil temperature on a separate VDO gauge.
My setup is based on a PLX system but the MFD got fried when 12 volts got into the PLX wiring.. ( engine bay fire )
So this is my own MFDs.

I have oil temp/pressure. CHT and AFR
Only really look at AFR and oil pressure though. |
That's a nice bit of kit!
I wonder if you can order one without the fuel gauge feature?
Mine being a 67, has the dash mounted fuel gauge. _________________ I have learned over the years.

I suppose it does if pay attention to the pop out.
Looks cool but I'm in a Ghia with a separate fuel gauge so I don't have a donor to modify. I suppose I could buy one but then I'd have to redo my dash to close up some holes. _________________ Volkswagen!
