All of a sudden my upshift light has gone crazy. It's on, it's off, all random. Stays on full-time when in 5th gear ( which is when it's supposed to be entirely off! ).
Is there a loose connection I can check somewhere? |

It gets input from a vacuum switch up near throttlebody, and from a switch mounted on top of the trans that has the reverse sw and all the other contacts for gear position. |

I know I would just dump that system but I suspect that the transmission switch is the main culprit. It should never go of in 5th gear.
Water and mice may have some influence too. |

You may be right about water; it began a couple of weeks ago after the car was sitting out in the rain all day. At the same time my windshield wipers went wonky too: all three settings gads the same speed, and they wouldn't shut off! After about ten dry days the wipers are back to normal, but the upshift light is still crazy.
What to do? |

You can disconnect the vacuum switch, that should disable the light, I believe. |
