What's that noise?

I lived in North Florida in the late seventies and ran with a tough bunch of guys. The five of us got into all kinds of trouble together. One of our favorite things to do, was to pile into my 69 VW Bug and explore the local trails. During hunting season, we were usually heavily armed.

It's often wet in Florida and the trails get slimy but I had discovered a trick. Snow chains! Yup! I would slip on a set of snow chains and we'd clank our way thru mud, water, brush, swamp, other hunters, etc.

One day while out hunting, we clanked our way around a sharp bend in the trail and came upon a jacked up 4X4 with two guys standing in front of it looking back around the bend in the trail, back the way we'd just come from.

We all piled out of my Bug dragging assorted shotguns and rifles with us and went to say hello. They were still standing there looking pretty confused. So there we were. Six heavily armed men standing in a swamp looking at a bend in the trail and waiting, clutching our weapons and wondering WTF?

One of us asked them what the Hell they were waiting on. A tank they said. We were standing here and heard a tank coming down the trail. Then it stopped. A tank?

Then it dawned on us and we all started grinning at each other. We climbed back into my little VW Panzer and we took off down the trail. Their jaws were hanging open when we clanked out of the clearing.
