Does anyone know of how to either repair or obtain new front spindles (steering knuckles) for 74-up Super Beetles? I measured my original spindles with newly-calibrated Starrett micrometers and found that there are out of spec in several areas where the front wheel bearing contact. In fact, you can see a worn ridge on them, and it's about 0.004" smaller than spec. Definitely not useable. However, I found that there are NO new stock spindles being made for Supers??? Do I let a custom shop weld on new spindles? Find NOS ones? Has anyone had to do this before?
