Hello,
I had an electrical leak with my 73' 412. At the same time, and unrelated, I got a new carpet kit and began to fix the classic rust spots and holes in the floorboards.
T o my surprize, when I took the wiring off of the kickdown, one of the wires sparked on pedal assembly. The longer wire in the picture is always hot, car on or off.

[i]Is it safe to assume that this should not be?[i]

Thanks

I just went thru this with mine. That should not be a live wire with the key off. If you look at the wiring current flow that should be a 15 wire, only live with the key on. Probably incorrectly wired. You will have to trace back.

The wiring current flow diagrams for the type 4 are really good on this site. You can pick out your year. I use them alot.
