2 tone painting

I've got a 64 vw that I painted with acrylic urethane about a year ago.
The girl that owns it wants to do the bottom half white. I'm thinking that I can mask , sand with 4 or 600 and shoot it. I don't think that sealer is necessary. Am I right or wrong?

If you put a similar paint over it you def don't need sealer. Single stage I'd think 600 is about the most coarse you could prep it in without having any scratches showing thru.
