Running 6 volt trafficators on 12 volt

Does anybody know what in-line resistance (ohms) I need to run 6 volt trafficators on 12 volts please?

did a search using 'semaphores' and found these

from Bruce - suggests 1 ohm then says this 'Or, if you think you'd like to have a bit more voltage to the semaphore at all times, use a 0.9 ohm resistor (50 Watt) instead of 1 ohm. This will hit the semaphore with 5% more voltage than stock. There is a tradeoff. You're also putting in 7% more heat.'

but it must have a heat sink - wimkever has link in first thread to a useful product
