I also think 4.37 is the way to go. If you do the usual spring plate notch, and raised or thing front spindles, you'll have plenty of clearance for mild offroading even with 215/75/15 tires. I had this tire size on my class 11, but used a 3.88 single side cover trans, because its what I had, with my 1776 it was ok on the street, but I was always wishing for 4.37.
I have a Benco built single side cover with 4.37 in my fiberglass buggy, and would recommend.

4.375, stock 1st & 2nd, 1.46 3rd, 0.93 4th, 31x10.50 rear,235x75 front. 2054 , w120, scat wedgeports.
3rd gear pulls almost as hard as 2nd. Gotta wind 3rd pretty high to get 4th on the cam. If I had it to do over, I would do a steeper 4th.
