In the process of metal work we found weird cuts to the metal under the back window at the corner of the the decklid. Has anyone else seen this? Before we fix it, is there any reason it should be there? The only thing I can think of was that the folded back metal helped keep in those socks they started shoving up there ...
It's on both sides but my second picture was blurry

No reason that Volkswagen would have approved of, almost certainly hacked in by a previous owner... I'd fix it if it were mine.

Dual Carbs ... that's probably it. Makes sense since they did this to it also ...
