Hi All - First post on the site. I just bought a 1989 Vanagon GL Westfalia with pop top. I am looking to mount the 10’ fiamma F45 awning using 3 of the Van cafe mounting brackets. My issue is when I try to mount them the alignment seems off. The nut is not flat against the plate. I contacted Van cafe and they say it should be find and to torque them no more than 10ft lbs but it just seems a bit off to me. Am I wrong? Or has anyone else had this issue?
I did try removing the rubber stripping in a section but did not make a difference. Open to any and all feedback. Thanks!

Try flipping the inner bracket. Also the nut should be on the inboard side. _________________ 87 Syncro Westy

Your rain gutter trim looks thicker than Daves. Maybe that is what is throwing it off. _________________ Brandon

I now see in the OP "I did try removing the rubber stripping in a section but did not make a difference."
Yeah, maybe they just need torqued. Everything looks right to me. _________________ Brandon

Thanks all. I’ll try tightening down with a torque wrench and see how that looks. I just didn’t want to over do it right away and damage something. Appreciate the replys! |

Just got a set of these to mount an Aluminum Case Arb Awning to. Haven't yet installed, so can't comment on fitment, but was wondering what additional hardware was used/needed to mount the awning to the brackets? Sizes? Thanks.
EDIT: Just opened up my awning and it comes with 6 square headed 20mm stainless bolts with locking nuts that fit through the small holes of the mounts. But looks I need 8, so I will see if my local hardware store has a couple more. |
