The crappy video is because I don’t have YouTube and my buddy AlmostHeavenWV helped post it.

We don’t get a lot of hail and lightning in Oregon. I know the hail you see, will be cute to some people in different parts of the country. The YouTube clip is the beginning couple minutes. We thought it would just blow over in a couple minutes. What you don’t see is the hail getting golf ball size and shredding canopies and awnings. The storm lasted 20 minutes and came down like bullets. People holding on to aluminum frames from blowing away like Ben Franklins Kite


My two friends with knock off ARB side awnings folded like a towel. I was helping my buddy uphill hold on to his Fiamma RV awning. The hail punctured the canvas like a shotgun. I figured my 50 year old pop top would be in the lake.

We weren’t sure we’d have roads left up canyon to get out as we watched them start to erode in front of us in the basin.

Thanks Tom. Jeff Goldblum didn’t make it All the other campers are good except for some peoples tents, canopies, and awnings getting destroyed.

The hail did a number on the deluxe trim.

Time to head out and go home. Roads were muddy and full of ruts but not awful.

I'm glad that the hail damage wasn't worse, Xevin, but sorry for you all that this was the weather you all had to deal with during your annual get together.

Thanks guys. The freak weather was just part of the adventure. It cleared up shortly after the hail storm and cookouts started up with delicious food being shared. The music started playing and the good times went late into the morning.

Great thread Kevin with some awesome pictures. Looks like a great trip minus the hail storm! That text/video you sent me of the hail storm was scary shit. I'm glad it didn't dent up sheet metal on folks VWs!

Heck of an adventure Xevin! Glad you all made it out ok. I don't think I've ever been in such a hail storm as that one. We didn't get much here but it was forecasted for the area. Hope our paths cross soon!
