Sticky valve, I think. Stuck 2600 miles from home.

Glad you made it home ok. Here a suggestion for a quick fix b4 you do any tear down. Pry the offending valve closed & reinstall the pushrod. Turn the engine over by hand for a few rotations to ensure that the valve appears to move freely in a cold engine.
Get a can of marvel mystery oil.

Start the engine up and pour the mystery oil into the carb barrel…..it’s going to smoke like hell but will eventually clear up. If the issue is a valve seized up in the guide then the additional lubrication from the mystery oil should solve the problem….it worked for me.
