Differential drain

Anyone add a drain to their automatic transmission differential?

I just used a tube, stuck it in the fill and sucked it out.

I've been pretty diligent about changing my ATF, starting at 40,000 miles. It took me that long since VW said it is filled for life, thinking I didn't need to worry. But I finally got around to not believing them.

Well, VW says the final drive/differential 'is filled for life'. I've now got 95,000 miles on the van and I'm starting to wonder about changing the gear oil.

Should I put this on my to-do list? Is anybody else doing this as part of regular maintenance?

FYI, this is the oil spec bentley has for the 01P final drive: Gear oil SAE75 W90 (synthetic oil)
