1982 Air-Cooled Westy, looking to add an additional Blue Seas fuse box and it looks like there's some hidden space above the closet. Has anyone used this space for anything?

I'm thinking of cutting a hole down through the bed for access and then obviously covering it up for normal use. Other option I guess is cut through from the back of the van in that top leftern most corner where the mouse made a nest a few years back.

Thanks for any help!

l've done a lot of aux battery installs for my customers, l have found that putting the new fuse panel, where the original westy fuse holder is, has been the most popular, it's out of the way, easy to get at, the westy wiring connects straight into it, especially if you add the battery under the drivers seat, the panel is close by.

I made the opening to it bigger and boxed it so things don't fall off window side. I can a long axe on there, handle first and a folded down recovery strap.

Not a place I would put a fuse box though. I would want easy access to it.

That very space is where I found a huge mouse nest when removing my interior.
For that reason alone, I would not want wiring up there.

I do plan to open it up from the back for storing items however.

Yeah, would have been overkill to put another fuse panel back there, I really only needed to run one wire for some overhead lighting.

I keep getting ambitious thinking I'll need more electricity around the van but I've gotten fairly good at running the wires around inconspicuously.
