safari recess

i will have to make a recess to the upper windshield metal, since my OG safaris wont fit without them
anyone did this? i searched the safari thread, but no joy
do aftermarket safaris fit without the recess?

I know most early buses came without the recess, but maybe around 1963 or so all German buses came with that recess as standard, I could be wrong on the year this changed.

Some safari makers make two styles one for buses with the recess and one for buses without it. For example Creative Engineering does this. You have to tell them if your bus has the recess or not and they send you the correct set based on that answer.

i also found the 63 model year for that change (my 65 had it), but since my bus is an early 61 and my safaris are OG i have to modify

I can't find it but I feel like I've seen it discussed that there are early and late safaris that would fit the non recess and recess correctly. Aftermarket safaris "fit" all years.
