Vintage Motion Mini Car ad from the late 60's. Damn... brand new Bosch 010 distributors for $23.95. I'll take a dozen.
I grew up 5 miles from Motion. _________________ Glenn

**From a closed auction on Ebay, I do not own these**
Here is a set of 6 dealer type books and manuals. These were used buy a former field rep for VW in the mid 1950's. All is in fair to good condition.
(1) Accessories booklet and photo book
The picture of the convertible is in the photo album. That album has some light water damage mostly on the paper pages and a couple of the photos are wavy.
(2) Book of service bulletins
The second book with the service bulletins is made up of typed letter paper which has some staining and all of the pages have yellowed over the years also the edges have become wavy from moisture.
(3) VW parts price list
The third book which is the parts price list is in good condition with no moisture damage.
(4) Book of service hints
The fourth book which is the Service Hints has some moisture damage on the tops and bottom of the pages mostly towards the back of the book-some of the pages were stuck together towards the back but only stuck at the top and bottom.
(5) Book of technical bulletins
The fifth book the technical bulletins has some moisture damage again at the top and bottom of the pages and some were stuck together but separated fine since they were only stuck together over a small area.
(6) 52-55 factory workshop manual
Finally the work shop manual is in good to very good condition with no water damage and no stuck together pages. _________________ These are not the New Old Stock parts you are looking for...

Here's one from my collection for now, I'll post some more tomorrow.
A new old stock VW Owners Security Blanket chamois, button, and brochure. Can't be many of any of these floating around.

Here's a collection of 1970 EMPI boxes. The larger box on the left has a Riverside post mark of Nov. '70. All these boxes (and then some) came from a shop that built a vintage 2 liter empi motor in 1970. Interesting story from the people I got all of it from in that it was the time when empi was starting discussions with Lee Eliminators. The larger box contained a set of empi race heads (which I now own) that got slightly damage in shipping (fixable). Seems empi started sending a number of free items to the people to make up for the hassles. Most of these extras I bought in a package deal including the two very rare thin two color empi side badges, linkage kit, crank bolt, throw out bearing, and other items. Also included in the deal was the original sales receipt and some had written notes.

Here is a question for those of you who collect Magazines, brochures & catalogues, How do you preserve them? i was thinking about using Semi-Hard Record album protective covers, or purchasing a cheap wrapper/sealer machine. i have tried looking up specific items for the collecting of Automobile papre products, and again nothing, (on a side note be glad we dont collect ferrari brochures, they are several hundred to several thousand dollars a piece ) any ideas or methods, please post them here, thanks _________________ These are not the New Old Stock parts you are looking for...

Collecting ephemera (?sp?) ie paper goods is pretty dependant on the quality of paper used in the printing. The acid in the paper is why archival stuff is all acid free. I've got 45 years of reciepts for the car in a couple of loose leaf binders with each piece of paper in a three hole punched slip cover . The sleeves are some kind of inert clear 'plastic'. The binders live on a shelf out of direct sunlight. If you want to get really hard core then you gotta look at temp/humidity changes..... _________________ my59: Well son, my grandfather died before I got to drive it, so does that answer your question?

I am curious if Brochures intended for the Portuguese market from 1952 -1954 had the "P" designation to indicate Portuguese market or if the number "55" indicates Portuguese market, i will give an example below:
The brochure in question is the above 1953 (printed 9-53) "beetle" brochure.
these are the more well known codes:
VWP 235E-275 (English)
VWP 235Sp-75 (Spain)
VWP 235-1395 (Netherlands)
VWP 235-1395 (Germany)
VWP 235F-220 (France)
And below is the lesser known Portuguese code
VWP 235P-55 (Portugal)
It seems to me that the letter(s) after the number 235 would indicate what market it is for. Any other opinions would be much appreciated _________________ These are not the New Old Stock parts you are looking for...

I figured i would write about the first coding on VW brochures, I would like to make this thread as educational as possible, if there is anyone who can add to the following evaluation and breakdown or if i have made a mistake feel free to let me know...
The Era of VW Brochures i am going to talk about is 1951 - 1954. I believe this may be the earliest era of "coded" brochures.
9-51 TB 202-20 Would be the earliest of this series
5-54 VC 258-40 Would be the last of this series.
The breakdown
Example: 9-53 VWP 235E - 275
9-53 - Date Produced
VWP - ???
235 - I think this is the code for the specific brochure]
E - In this case it is for the english market. I base this on the same brochure being coded with the first letter of the language the brochure is in. Interesting to note that german language brochures have no letter code.
275 - ???
If any knows more feel free to share, thanks _________________ These are not the New Old Stock parts you are looking for...
