|
|
Hello Friends!
I have a 71 convertible which I just installed a rebuilt 1500DP.
I have utilized a 34 pic 3 with a SVDA distributor and it runs phenomenal.
I have installed a low profile air filter.
Problem I am having; The engine cover will not close unless I remove the plastic
drain pan that collects water coming through the vents in the lid.
Has anyone here addressed this?
I believe I might be able to modify the pan.
The lid with pan will close with out the air cleaner.
I presently have pan off and air cleaner on.
Thank you in advance!! |

I had a similar issue on my '71 and used a heat gun to reshape the rain tray in order to clear the shroud. You can just make out the indentation near the top of the photo below. Go easy with the heat to avoid blistering.

Thank you crocteau for relaying the idea of using heat on the rain pan.
I will attempt to resolve my issue this coming weekend. We are having a dry spell and there has been no threat of a downpour into my engine bay. |

Look for a different air filter, maybe not so wide. |

The stock air cleaner was located to the side with a rubber tube so maybe fabricate something to move the new air cleaner to the side. |
